In Nioh, players will traverse war-torn Japan as William, a blonde-haired swordsman whose background as a fierce warrior and seasoned knowledge of the blade allows him to survive in the demon-plagued land of the samurai. Known as Yokai, these demons inhabit a number of dangerous locations and lie in wait in the shadows to ambush unsuspecting victims. Players will also face off with other samurai in supernatural sword battles and intense, multi-target engagements offering a level of difficulty that will truly test even the most hardened samurai's skills, patience, and strategy.

  • Offering a deep and original storyline that takes place during the Warring States Period of Japanese history alongside strategic sword-fighting action, Nioh will challenge players in a way that makes every mission and accomplishment feel earned and worthwhile.

This game is fantastic. It's fast paced and keeps you at the edge of your seat. It also wants to make you throw your control through the TV when you get so close to killing a boss and you die. Easily one of the better games on the PS4 console

If Dark Souls, Ninja Gaiden and Diablo had a baby...

Nioh is really a unique game in its own way. It takes the difficulty of Dark Souls, the fighting of Ninja Gaiden and the loot collection of Diablo and mixes it all togeher to give yoilu this masterpiece called Nioh. It borrows from the best, but stays unique in its own way. Yes it's difficult, but its an addictive difficulty... I recommend this game. 8.8/10

Much Owed To Dark Souls

Something being attributed to the legacy of Dark Souls is phrase you hear all the time these days, but in this case it’s more accurate than most. From its demanding but rewarding combat to its labyrinthine levels full of thrilling danger and secrets, the influence of FromSoftware’s action RPG series undeniably forms the foundation for Team Ninja’s latest endeavor.

Nioh isn't a bad game, it is just rather demanding.

Decent, but not Dark Souls

A very decent game, but in the end, there is too much repetition, re-used maps/missions, not enough enemy variety, and no invasions. But, if you need more Dark Souls in your life, you can do worse.

Nioh is awesome.

Great and fun game to play. With all of the dlc out, it's better than ever.
Go and buy this game.

Japanese Dark Souls

Definitely a game I would recommend, it has a strong combat system and interesting story as well as customization and leveling systems in place. A good game if you aren't a fan of Dark souls and find it to difficult, you can grind for awesome gear and weapons. SO BUY IT NOW!

A pathetic attempt at the Dark Souls formula

The loot is boring, the combat is okay but not as deep as The Witcher or Dark Souls. Not worth wasting 800 bucks on

Good game and NOT a total DS clone like people say it is.

Nioh is an amazing game that is sure to test your skills as a player but the rewards will be worth the effort one puts in to achieve your goals and slay your enemies.

You play as William Adams, a real life historical figure as the character is based on the very first Westerner to become a Samurai. You follow his tale as you hunt down one Edward Kelly and stop him before he rules the world with mystical stones with power called "Amrita"which also serves as the games currency to level up with.
The difficulty is on par with Dark Souls but the fighting mechanics are a lot more layered and detailed than that of a Souls game. A more apt comparison would be that of Onimusa, Ninja Gaiden or Tenchu. The story is a lot more easier to follow and while it does have a mission structure instead of having one big open world, the levels are so well designed that you get used to them really quickly.Co-op is available (Only online though, no local co-op I'm afraid) as well as a PVP-mode that will be released for free with a future update

All in all. I wasn't much of a fan of the Souls Series. but this game even though it is difficult is a lot more fun and enjoyable. The tools you have when playing this game is a lot more varied. Want to be a stealthy fast sneaky ninja? Go for it. Like using magic to destroy your foes? Psh it's there for ya. Wan't to be a general bad-ass and just use all of em? DO ITT!!!
9/10 game for sure

ITS AMAZING and slightly frustrating

This game has blown my socks off. I love it. i can easily spend hours an hours on this game and never get bored. Its alot like Dark souls 3 just more fun. You will die lots but when you master it then its so much fun. I haven't been this satisfied in a game in a very long time.

Great for me as I can speak and understand Japanese

Great way for me to practice listening and reading. Fun Dark Souls-like gameplay with some twists and set in Old Japan. Perfect.
